EMC Academic Alliance

The Gartner reports on market share in 2011 saw an increase in demand for NAS / Unified Storage across the world and that EMC captured the No 1 slot. EMC had a market growth of 21.5% giving it a 41.7% share of the world market. In short the growth for storage is growing faster now than at any other time in history and is likely to continue increasing.

At the present time the EMC AA offer 4 courses to its educational partners:

  1. Information Storage and Management

  2. Cloud Infrastructure and Services

  3. Data Science and Big Data Analytics

  4. Backup Recovery Systems and Architecture

The Cloud Infrastructure and Services (CIS) course educates participants about cloud deployment and service models, cloud infrastructure, and the key considerations in migrating to cloud computing. For all definitions of cloud computing, the course has resorted to the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology as a guide. The course covers technologies required to build classic (traditional), virtualized, and cloud data center environments. These technologies include compute, storage, networking, desktop and application virtualization. Additional areas of focus include backup/recovery, business continuity, security, and management. Students will learn about the key considerations and steps involved in transitioning from the current state of their data center to a cloud computing environment. Upon completing this course, participants will have the knowledge to make informed decisions about migrating to cloud infrastructure and choosing the best deployment model for their organisation.

Information Storage and Management(ISM)is the only course of its kind to fill the knowledge gap in understanding varied components of information storage infrastructure in classic and virtual environments. It provides a comprehensive learning on storage technology, which will enable you to make more informed decisions in an increasingly complex IT environment. It builds a strong understanding of underlying storage technologies and prepares you to learn advanced concepts, technologies and products. You will learn about the architectures, features, and benefits of intelligent storage systems; storage networking technologies such as FC-SAN, IP-SAN, NAS, object-based and unified storage; business continuity solutions such as backup and replication; the increasingly critical area of information security and management, and the emerging field of cloud computing. This unique, open course focuses on concepts and principles which are further illustrated and reinforced with EMC product examples.

Both the above classes are covered by NDG for practical work
